As someone who loves indie video games, it’s struck me how far the indie scene has come with how much variety we see today. From new stories to new voices in the space, I’ve found many games and game creators who have inspired me to have fun and create my own games, too. With Asian continues to emerge more than ever in this space, below is a list of fun and visually engaging games that focus on Asian people and culture. Most of them games made by Asian developers.
Venba
This game’s story starts in 1988 when Venba and Paavalan recently emigrated to Canada and try to adjust to their new lives there. Incorporating real Tamil recipes into the game’s puzzles, we navigate the story as Venba learns to deal with living miles away from the culture she knew and raising a son who wants to leave that very culture behind.
