Not Just An Album But A Community | Rosy L. on the International Artist Project
Written by Kimberly Saenz | September 6, 2026
The International Artists Project is a newly released album composed of musicians across continents contributing together to 44 diverse songs. Singer-songwriter Rosy L. is featured on three of the album's songs: “Moussou Gnouma,” “Because With You,” and “K.Y.R.N,” the first of which is the opening track for the album. Having only started releasing music in 2020, this project is a testament to Rosy L.’s ability to create culturally rich songs across genres.
For the unfamiliar, Rosy L. is a Laotian half Burmese singer from the Southeast Asian country of Laos, a detail which she incorporates in her music in an effort to transcend emotional and physical boundaries and represent her home culture. She resides in Dallas, Texas, and has performed at a number of live events and music festivals in Texas, Los Angeles, California, and Canada. Her contributions to the International Artists Project make her the first person from Laos to be featured on the World Album and is currently under consideration for the Grammy for Best Global Music Album.
Rosy L. 's music can be described as easily remixed or collaborative electronic R&B or electronic Lo-fi, comparable to the soothing, but upbeat energy of artists like Alina Baraz or Mura Masa. Rosy L. is recognized for her sultry vocals, electric and acoustic guitar melodies, and her lyricism. Her lyrics speak to self-acceptance, empowerment, duality, and the emotions that accompany relationships and identity.
The opening song, “Moussou Gnouma,” provided Rosy L. with the opportunity to work with artists Mamko from France and Guinea and Nina Petković from Montenegro. This particular song is a tribute to women around the world, with the chorus comparing women to light and Rosy’s verse reaffirming the role of women across cultures and spaces: “You’re the one who moves us all forward, / You enlightened our time, / Your love is more than I could define / You taught us our values, your point of view.” A song like this highlights and humanizes the minority group across borders and institutions.
“Because With You” is the fourth track on the album, featuring Rosy L. and KVNTO from Madagascar. This song is both multicultural and accessible through its universal themes of love and happiness. Rosy’s verse, “I’m in love with you, you’re beautiful / when you’re here, I’m happy, happy / It’s been a long time, I wanna take you out / show the world I’m the only one baby, the best for you,” is a relatable look at the familiar emotions of infatuation and unconditional love.
The 28th track, “K.Y.R.N” has vocals by Rosy L. and is remixed by KOVI from Spain. This timeless, uptempo dance song is reminiscent of 80s disco and 90s electropop, not only through its piano strains, but through its repetitive chorus exploring the intoxicating sensation of new love and physical touch. Rosy’s verse asks, “Have you ever been in love before, yes I have I have / I hope you feel the same way / Cuz I love you, I just want you to notice me” and the energetic chorus repeats, “I wanna kiss you right now, right now, right now!” Another track that speaks to the universal themes that any listener can relate to.
Rosy L.’s discography includes a variety of themes and genres, from slow-paced, reflective songs to songs that will lead you to a dance floor. With the work she has accomplished on the World Album (International Artists Project), her ability to connect with other musicians and artists alike is unmistakable. It is through her inspiring and engaging vocals and lyrics, perfectly paired with the multifaceted melodies and rhythms of other artists, that this album encourages community and love.
