Houston, TX - Oddjun (Park Jun Young) and Willa (Kijo Kang), two indie artists and music producers from South Korea, stopped by the K-Pop store Eve Pink in Houston for a day filled with activities, performances, and surprises. Nopality Magazine managed to stop by and briefly interview the artists to get to know them better.

How did you get started with making music?

Oddjun - I wanted to get started with music as it was a part of my everyday life. I initially started by practicing my vocals and then got inspired by Daniel Caesar to explore the R&B genre. He’s been a huge inspiration to me and my music.

Willa - Around 10 years ago, I just decided to start writing music about my life and experiences. Ever since then I’ve taken those experiences and incorporated them into my music and lyrics.

Who are some of your current musical influences? Given that both of you delve into the R&B and rap genre?

Willa - I’d say Jay Park !

Oddjun - I would list Dean & Crush as some.

Since this is your first time in Houston, what is something you like about the city or about traveling in general?

Oddjun - My favorite thing about traveling in general is seeing fans and the different people that I meet and who come to our shows and meetups.

Willa - I love getting to try new foods and have more freedom than back in Korea.

What is something you’d like to tell your fans?

Oddjun - I want to especially thank the fans overseas who come to our shows for the support and love even from afar.

Willa - I am very thankful for our fans and those who give my music a chance.

What are you most excited for the event today?

Willa - “We’ll be performing a new unreleased song for fans today, so please look forward to that.”

Oddjun - “Being able to meet fans up close and have a more in depth conversation with them.”

The fans attending were able to play games with the two, such as Korean card games and gonggi, the dice game made famous by Squid Games. Once they were ready to take the stage, Oddjun performed several of his R&B inspired songs and even covered Jungkook’s Still With You. On the other hand, Willa hyped up the scene by performing his rap heavy tracks and interacting with fans. Willa & Oddjun's lively personalities complimented their differing musical genres and are sure to continue creating music for their fans.
