Houston, TX -  Chinese Hip-hop artist SKAI ISYOURGOD made his anticipated arrival to Houston this past Sunday as a part of his 2025 North American Tour. He came full swing with the energy that fans in the States have been waiting for. SKAI ISYOURGOD released his debut album titled Shun Feng Shui Shun Cai Shen back in 2023. While he received very positive reviews from fans and critics alike, it would not be until his second album, Stacks from All Sides, released in 2024, that he would see the tables really start to turn.

“Stacks from All Sides”, the song named after the album, is the track that many fans are most familiar with. Blowing up on TikTok and Instagram, fans were immediately pulled in due to its catchy lyrics and unique Memphis-style beat. Although the song is exclusively in Cantonese,

foreign fans were still drawn to the unique lyrics: “来财, 来,” (“Come wealth, Come”). These lyrics can be seen as not only reflecting certain aspects of Chinese culture, but also as a call to Hip-hop culture as a whole, and how both go hand in hand. It's safe to say the internet helped massively push SKAI’s name and popularity to new heights, especially in the USA.

Houston seemed like a second home for SKAI, with its unique and diverse population, which translated perfectly to his performance that night. Native speakers and foreign fans alike were able to enjoy, with Thai, Japanese, Filipino, and even non-Asian fans in attendance. This showcases the pull that SKAI has as an artist and entertainer. Throughout the show, he would frequently thank the crowd after every song and speak to them as if it were a normal conversation. It’s impossible to count the number of times he thanked the crowd for being at the show in Houston and for spending their hard-earned money to see him.

In exchange, he shared multiple stories with the audience. One of these included how his father never believed he could make it as an artist, and that he should give up. “Hearing those words hurt,” said SKAI, “but I never counted sheep in bed, I counted money”. The crowd resonated with that message, even if they could not understand him.

As his set list neared its end, SKAI had a brief 10-minute break, and he told the fans that the next song would be his biggest one yet. The crowd roared with excitement as he walked off. As if time didn't even pass, the beat to “Stacks from All Sides” began to play as everyone rushed to pull out their phones. In unison, the crowd sang along. SKAI did not even need to perform; the crowd could do it for him. A smile spread across his face as he stopped and let the crowd say “来财, 来” (Lai Cai, Lai) over and over.

The momentum from “Stacks from All Sides” did not stop, as shortly after the intro to his second most popular song, “Blueprint Supreme,” echoed through the venue. As the beat dropped, the CO2 canons fired off, the crowd erupted, and the music video playing on the massive monitor screen began. SKAI really did not need to perform as the fans sang every lyric to the song. As the last song of the setlist arrived, he informed his fans that this was a new release. It was a different style than his usual music, and he hoped the fans would enjoy the new sound. The song was “No more,” which was released on Oct. 30, 2025.

As the song came to a close and the lights went off, SKAI gave his final thank you and walked off the stage. The crowd cheered for him as he exited, creating a truly amazing end to his Houston show and second city on his North American tour. Fans surely left the show wanting more, and with a new sound fresh in their mind, they will be eager to see which direction SKAI will go next.
