DJ Rayray Brings the Heat to to Rich’s Houston

Houston, TXDJ RayRay, originally from Taiwan and a former Red Bull 3Style world finalist, is fast becoming a pillar of the global bass and hardstyle scenes. With tour stops from Asia to North America, she’s earned a reputation for sets that hit hard, both musically and emotionally, making all in attendance at her performances feel like they are one in the same, instilling a sense of community through the experiences she cultivates.

Demigod kicked off the night at Rich’s Houston, bringing along Andrew Pang, a fellow DJ and violinist, who’s LED infused bowstring lit up the beginning of the night as the duo performed songs from recent hit, Kpop Demon Hunters.

Haus of Panda followed up, keeping the energy flowing. With a giant panda Street Fighter visual taking stage center, he revealed some mixes that he created that same day. Ending off the set with a Majora’s Mask dubstep flip, and a powerful Chandelier by Sia outro that timed perfectly with the flickering lights of the giant chandelier placed centrally over the dance floor .

The moment RayRay slid beneath her DJ table and emerged at crowd level, you knew something special was happening. Her set was a seamless cascade of metallic synths, distorted bass, and relentless transitions. Playful surprises like, “Boom Boom, Boom,” by Vengaboys, a Nyan Cat graphic with her face overlayed over, and meme sound effects were fun additions to the night.

When the line, Do you like bass in your motherf*ing face?”, dropped, it was more than just a hype moment. The crowd answered with arms in the air, lights pulsing, and chemistry unfolding like electricity. Each individual in the room seemingly began to fuse together, into a sort of mass ornament, where there was no time for rest or respite.

Throughout RayRay stayed present—often leaving her turn table perform and interact with the crowd near the front of the stage. One could catch her laughing with her videographer, flipping off the social media manager as he took a story clip, and taking selfies with fans after the set, bidding them farewell and to get home safe. It was small gestures like these that transformed a rave into something communal, a shared experience where all were welcome to have the night of their lives, no holds barred.
