Dumplings are a staple in many Asian dishes and come in so many forms - it’s seasoned meat and or vegetables wrapped around dough after all. Texas has found itself with many of those dumplings served across the state. Here are Nopality Magazine’s top picks on where to find the best ones.

1. Momo House

Based in San Antonio, one of Nopality’s writers, Linh, recommends Momo House, which serves Nepali style dumplings called momos. They come steamed or fried, depending on personal preference, and the menu favorite is the Jhol Momo. This dish has a tomato and vegetable sauce covering the dumplings, and the sweetness from the tomato sauce pairs well with the savoriness of the meat from the momo. Momo house can be found on De Zavala Road or at the Pearl Market on Sundays.

2. Han Il Garden

If you find yourself driving down Ritiman road in San Antonio, go to Han Il Garden. This one is a recommendation from one of Nopality’s writers and graphic designers Anh. Although it would help if you have a reservation due to the coziness of the restaurant. The Korean Mandu served here are hefty and filling but still light enough to keep you going without falling asleep. The seasonings in the meat make the flavor profile decadent without being too rich. The people are welcoming and the atmosphere feels like eating at a family friend’s house.
